ATF’s Unilateral Classification of Honey Badger Pistol As A Short-Barreled Rifle
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) recently classified Q LLC's “Honey Badger” pistol as a "short-barreled rifle" (SBR), which is subject to the National Firearms Act's (NFA) regulations.
Gun owners who possess this pistol face the risk of federal felony prosecution for owning a controlled firearm without following the due process.
At Lone Star Gun Rights, we believe that this classification is arbitrary, unfair, and misguided. This is because the ATF has, since 2012, agreed that handguns equipped with pistol stabilizing braces are exempt from NFA's regulations because they're not designed to be fired from the shoulder. However, the ATF is silently revising this rule without informing gun owners or initiating any legislative change action.
