ANOTHER GUN RIGHTS' RALLY SET FOR SATURDAY IN ROME, GEORGIA
While the memories of the last gun rally in Richmond VA are barely faded, gun rights activists are organizing a similar event in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. The rally hopes to remind voters to take appropriate action before the county becomes another guns-free Virginia. The organizer, Chris Ashley, hopes that the county will become another second amendment sanctuary before the authorities plan on taking the guns away.
“We’re only one election away from being ruled by people who have the power to pass laws and don’t care about the Constitution,” Ashley said. “I feel like all patriotic Americans should be willing to stand up and be preemptive about it instead of being reactive about it.”
Ensuring that Pro-Second Amendment politicians control all the elective posts will prevent the county and the state from silently descending into tyranny like Virginia. Currently, Georgia is under control of the Republicans in both the House and the Senate. The Republicans established the Trifecta control since 2005 but are currently facing threats from various gun control politicians with funding from wealthy democrats such as Michael Bloomberg.
The state allows open carry with a permit and open carry without a permit in a motor vehicle. Despite both houses being under control of pro gun legislators, the Democrats still tried to introduce various gun control laws including Senate bill, SB 150 that seeks to “close a loophole” relating to access of weapons by people convicted of misdemeanor crimes.
Republicans have been seeking to expand rights for citizens to own firearms through the introduction of the Georgia Constitutional Carry Act Bill HB 2 to allow residents own firearms without the need to register or obtain a license. Another Republican legislator introduced the HB 751 Anti-Red Flag - Second Amendment Conservation Act, which would impose a fine of $5000 and a three-year sentence for an official who tries to enforce a red flag law.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
