Anti-2A Chicago Rocked by Overnight Shootings Leading to Death and Injuries of 11 People in 10 Hours
A string of overnight shootings rocked the anti-gun Chicago on Saturday after armed attackers opened fire on innocent civilians. In one shooting, a group of armed men jumped out of a silver Audi and opened fire, killing a 22-year-old man on the 1700 block of East 69th Street in the South Shore neighborhood.
Darnell J. McGee was shot several times on both the upper and lower body and died on the spot. Several other shootings left 11 people injured in a matter of 10 hours between Friday 7 pm and Saturday 5 am. Among the injured were three teenage boys.
A 26-years old man was shot by unknown assailants while outside an apartment building at around 5 am on Saturday. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. At 4:15 am, another 26-years old man sustained gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery by robbers dressed in all black and wearing ski masks and did not manage to steal anything from him.
At 2:30 am on Saturday, a 22-year old man sustained gunshot wounds after an assailant alighted from a black SUV and shot at him, striking him on the abdomen and on the hip.
At 12:45 am, a 31-year old man and a 29-year old woman were injured after someone fired at them from a black Honda. The man was admitted in critical condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center while the woman was in fair condition.
Similarly, a 15-years old boy was shot by a person in a moving vehicle. The other attacks took place on Friday a few hours before midnight.
The violence in the city was so bad that the Democratic mayor was reported to be begging residents to stop shooting each other to save beds for coronavirus victims. Illinois has one of the most stringent gun laws, including the requirement of firearm owners to have special identification cards (FOID). The state also does not recognize carry permits from other states, thus denying Second Amendment Rights to non-residents. Violence continues unabated despite the restrictive regulations present in the state.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
