Joseph Sakran, a surgeon at John Hopkins shared two photos of what he said were “death threats” he found tucked under his windshield wipers. “Last week I’m leaving my home from work and I find this paper under my windshield,” the doctor said. He then showed a color printed picture of a hand holding a gun with the words, “The end is near….”

“One does not have to see the rest of the sentence that was covered to understand the intent of this message, a Death Threat,” he said. Sakran later deleted the tweet claiming that the law enforcement advised him to stop discussing the “death threats” in public.

Fairfax Police media relations officer Lieutenant Webb indicated that the doctor had not filed a report with the police and that the department does not offer such advice to civilians. Sakran later said that he decided to ignore the threat after taking pictures of the note, but later changed his mind and posted it online, after which he changed his mind again and deleted the tweet.

However, his claims and actions raise suspicion because he refused to answer more questions about the alleged note or report the matter to the police. Sakran was a victim of a shooting during a football match when he was 17 years old. He attributes his career choice to that event. However, he uses his position as a surgeon to advance his gun control agenda using biased and fictional facts thus earning him ridicule from experts in the area.

Sakran testified on Capitol Hill where he advocated for stricter gun control and universal background checks. However, his advice was not based on any medical grounds but was his personal opinion which he was qualifying because he is a doctor and a victim of an accidental shooting.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
