AP: Any Hope That Joe Biden Will Usher In A New Era Of Restrictions On Firearms Is Highly Unlikely

The Leftist media was rooting for Biden to win and implement various anti-gun proposals that the well-funded anti-gun groups have been pushing.

Now it seems that some sections of the mainstream media are skeptical of Joe Biden's ability to force gun control. The Associated Press published a piece explaining why the gun-free utopia that the radical Left has been fantasizing about could be out of reach.

"The gun debate in America will soon enter a new chapter with a Democrat in the White House after four years under President Donald Trump in which gun control advocates developed a long wish list for reform amid a spate of large-scale mass killings in places like Las Vegas, El Paso and Parkland, Florida," the AP begins. "But any hope that Joe Biden will usher in a new era of restrictions on firearms is highly unlikely because of the same polarization in Washington that has tripped up similar efforts under past administrations."

AP points out that "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazine bans, and the enactment of red flag laws and universal background checks requires Congress to act. Democrats could only influence Congress if they win the two remaining Senate seats in Georgia, do away with the filibuster, and receive RINOs' support. However, the AP notes that "it will be a tall order to get a majority of lawmakers on board."

Another stumbling block highlighted by the Associated Press is the appointment of conservative judges by the Trump administration. Such judges would block unconstitutional declarations, thus frustrating Biden's administration. Trump's latest appointee Amy Coney Barrett shifted the power balance giving conservatives a majority of 6-3.

To circumvent the challenges, the Associated Press suggests enacting gun control through administrative processes. AP suggests blocking mentally ill people from buying firearms through the background checks system.

Mentally-ill people unable to work or handle their financial affairs would be flagged, thus preventing them from passing background checks. The measure would affect more than 75,000 Americans, according to the Associated Press.

Other leftist outlets such as Bloomberg's The Trace advised Biden to create an interagency task force incorporating the White House, The Justice Department, and The Department of Health and Human Services to push de-facto gun control.

The Leftist media outlets are beginning to accept that the Second Amendment is not a second-class right that could be easily scrapped. Biden also admitted that the executive authority was "out of bounds" in forcing extreme gun control that the Progressives demanded.
