Armed Burglar Left by his Getaway Car After Getting Shot by Gun Owner

An armed burglar faces charges of aggravated robbery in Nashville, Tennessee after trying to rob a firearm owner who shot him in self-defense. The 27-year old Desean Jackson approached three men as they entered into a car parked at Opry Mills parking lot on Wednesday and demanded their belongings at gunpoint. The driver of the car pulled his firearm from the side of his vehicle as Desean grabbed their shopping and tried to run away.

A shot was fired as he to escape forcing the gun owner to shoot back, striking him on the knee. It is still unclear whether the shot came from Desean or his accomplice. However, his getaway car fled the scene leaving him behind, and he was forced to flee on foot. Metro Police later arrested him at Briley Parkway.

Desean suffered non-threatening injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he received treatment before being booked. His handgun was recovered from the shooting scene, and detectives confirmed he was the owner. The 27-year old also had an outstanding felony probation violation indicating he was a career criminal.

Gun control failed to disarm criminals like Desean, who clearly would not be allowed to have a firearm. On the contrary, firearm ownership by a law-abiding citizen helped apprehend a violent criminal who would have terrorized more helpless citizens.

However, gun control activists perceive firearms in the hands of lawful citizens as a threat. Instead of championing for better laws that would ensure criminals like Desean remain behind bars, they embark on an unhelpful campaign to undermine the ability of law-abiding citizens to react to threats.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
