Armed Gas Station Clerk Stopped A String Of Inter-City Robberies

A store clerk in Tuscumbia, Alabama, stopped a career criminal responsible for multiple robberies that Tuscumbia Police were striving to solve. The suspect robbed various businesses in Florence, Sheffield, Muscle Shoals, and Tuscumbia, in the Heart of Dixie.

The robber visited Fuel City on Highway 72 on Monday at 10 a.m. and robbed a clerk at gunpoint.

“He came to the counter, put the bag up on the counter, pulled his gun out and said ‘give me everything out of the register.’ I said, ‘you’re joking right, you’re playing?’ He said no, ‘give me everything out of the register,’” Miranda Mullins, the store clerk recounted.

The criminal collected $3,400 and walked away in what appeared to be a successful heist. However, Mullins pulled a gun and shot him once on the shoulder before her gun jammed.

“Otherwise, he probably would’ve got shot more times, honestly,” Mullins boasted.

The criminal made it to the getaway car driven by a female accomplice, who crashed the it after running a red light while trying to make it to Helen Keller Hospital. The criminal survived and was admitted to Huntsville Hospital awaiting trial for multiple robberies.

“It’s a big relief for us because it was only a matter of time that someone innocent was going to get hurt. And like I said, he was going in at peak times doing these robberies and the fact that he was armed, it would have made for bad circumstances,” Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan said.

Mullins told other criminals to take notice because “if you try something like this, we’re not going to put up with it. We will stop you.”

Police said the incident which was captured on camera, was under investigation. It would be appalling if the clerk were charged for ending the suspects robbery career.
