Armed Gun Rights Rally Takes Place on Kentucky Capitol Grounds and Inside Capitol Buildings

Armed gun rights rally took place in Kentucky Capitol with armed protesters occupying both the Capitol grounds as well as the Capitol buildings. The rally was in protest of Red flag laws that allow confiscation of firearms without due process. The rally was organized by a group called Constitutional Kentucky.

The protesters braved rain and cold to demonstrate their demands for the protection of their Second Amendment rights. "These guys are farmers and doctors, and they are out here recognizing the same thing, that there are rights being infringed on," Tony Wheatley, the rally organizer said. Some protesters noted that gun rights were worth fighting over. "I'm afraid if that happens nationwide, it's going to be an uprising worse than the Civil War ever thought about being," a protester told WDRB News.

A Republican Congressman Thomas Massie attended the rally and said that gun control was aimed at taking all guns from some people or a few guns from all people. "They want to take your guns," Massie said. "Some of them want to take all of the guns from just a few people, and some of them want to take a few of the guns from all of the people.”

Although the red flag law has not been introduced in the legislature the protesters said they were inspired by a slew of gun control laws in other states especially Virginia. About three-quarters of localities in Kentucky have adopted resolutions to defend their Second Amendment rights in opposition to the state’s gun control laws. The group behind the rally indicated that it intends to continue working behind the scenes to make all Kentucky counties Second Amendment Sanctuaries.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
