Bloomberg-Backed Gun Control Group Silently Recruiting 100,000 Young Voters Online During the Crisis
A gun-control group supported by the failed Democratic presidential contender and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg is spending $1.5 million to recruit young voters through online campaigns. The new route taken by the Students Demand Action anti-gun group was because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The group had initially planned on carrying out direct person-to-person campaigns before the start of the crisis.
The direct campaign targets young people across various campuses in the targeted states. According to CNN, the program will focus on 13 major battleground states, which are key for democratic victory. The group has over 400 chapters and over 200,000 members across the country. Despite their substantial numbers, the population they target only makes up 10% of voters.
The group is creating 17 virtual organizers whose job is to convince their anti-gun friends and relatives to register for voting. The group will utilize various online communication tools such as video conferencing, text messages, as well as online chats to push for more voter registrations. The gun-control group has partnered with Rock the Vote to provide information on voting for residents of various states.
A high school chapter of the group representing Essex High School in the state of Vermont had visited the Statehouse to lobby for the passage of the H.610 that was before the House Judiciary Committee. The high school chapter met with various legislators, including Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman and Rep. Bob Bancroft, R-Westford, who is a strong advocate of gun rights.
Gun control groups have intensified their anti-gun campaigns during the coronavirus. Every Town for Gun Safety had urged state and local authorities to close gun stores against the orders from the Department of Homeland Security. Moms Demand Action had made similar suggestions. Despite claiming to be advocating for gun safety, the group is an excellent example of how Democrats exploit various demographics for political gains.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
