Celebrities James Woods and Alyssa Milano engaged in a twitter exchange after the latter leftist actor urged people to stop bringing “dangerous firearms” into their homes during the coronavirus pandemic. Milano tweeted that Americans have purchased an extra 1 million firearms in March compared to last year.
“Americans bought over 2 million firearms in March of 2020, over a million more than this time last year,” Milano’s tweet read. “We have to keep each other safe by social distancing and washing our hands and not bringing dangerous firearms into our homes. #StopTheCoronavirusGunSurge #NoRA.”
James Woods replied to her by telling people to be prepared and to buy more ammo when the looting starts.
“Thank you for the reminder,” Woods replied. “When the looting starts, always be prepared. Buy more ammo!”
Other Twitter users were quick to remind her why a firearm was necessary during the current crisis.
“Criminals are being released for their safety, and the police will not respond to break-ins in some cities,” said Matt. “I cannot fathom why anyone would want a gun.”
Matt also attached information showing that Cincinnati police have notified people that they will not respond to assaults without injuries, break-ins, criminal damaging, thefts without the possibility of recovery, among other crimes.
There has been a wave of increase in crimes. In anti-gun New York City, burglaries have increased by 75%. A similar rise in crimes has been recorded in Seattle, where thefts have risen by 21%, with downtown recording over 87% increases.
Milano has, in the past, confessed to owning two firearms for self-defense during a debate with Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill in the company presence of fellow gun control activists.
“By the way, I have two guns in my household for self-defense, just so you know,” Milano said.
She later defended herself in an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo that saying her anti-gun position was logical. She said she only advocated for gun confiscation from some people and not everybody.
Cuomo was quick to point out her hypocrisy,
“Yeah, you just have two different sides of thinking about how to be safe. One side is less guns, the other side is more guns.”
Maybe she agrees with Joe Biden, who she strongly supports, that only celebrities and high-ranking public figures should have the privilege of defending themselves.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
