A Democratic lawmaker claims the peaceful rally demonstrators terrorized Virginia’s Richmond community. He said that their actions only emboldened the resolve of “gun-loving” democrats to pass stricter gun control laws.

“The ‘pro-gun’ people that terrorized Richmond yesterday probably don’t realize that all they did was tag team with fascists, strengthen the liberals’ resolve to pass gun control bills, and force the most gun-friendly Dem to not show up for a day. Idiots. Absolute idiots,” Democratic House Delegate Lee Carter said.

Carter had earlier indicated that he would observe the day from a “safe house” claiming he had received death threats, some coming from the police, for his anti-gun stance.

Using highly explicit language, he alleged that some of the threats came from the police. “Some of the threats are coming from police … (removed for profanity) ,” he said. “People were threatening to murder me and murder my family over something I’m not even doing,” the Manassas’ delegate claimed.

The 32-year-old delegate unseated Virginia’s Republican House of Delegates majority whip, Jackson Miller, with the backing of Washington DC’s chapter of Democratic Socialists of America. Many have compared him to Stalin and the Democrats have abandoned him after refusing to tone down his militant socialist stance. He is also an ardent supporter of Bernie Sanders’ supporter.

His claims of terrorism contradicted those of the governor who claimed the credit for the peaceful rally by saying that his agencies “de-escalated” the volatile situation in Richmond.

Carter’s gun control views do not match with either of the parties’ lines although he is against gun rights.

Delegate Carter blows hot and cold on gun control, with him supporting some gun control bills while opposing others such as the red flag laws. Carter claims the extreme right intends to use the red flag laws to take firearms from victims, especially him, before attacking.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
