Police executed a search warrant on a Golden Meadows home in Dec. 2019 after reporting suspicious activity. Justin Savoie, 24, shared the home with a woman named Lori Dupuy, who owned residence. Dupuy fled the scene after providing a false name to the police. Whoever, the officers detained Justin and performed a pat-down, which yielded a concealed firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked in the South Lafourche sub-station awaiting drug charges.
Police performed a strip search on the suspect which yielded a loaded .25 caliber Titan pistol stashed in his rear end. The concealed firearm was “more than four inches long with a 2.5-inch barrel.” A further search on his truck produced a homemade “zip gun,” more guns, and homemade suppressors.
The suspect’s primary charge was marijuana possession. Other charges included taking contraband to a penal institution, and improper registration of a firearm. Justin was released after posting a $10,600 bond. His female company was still at large.
Justin pleaded guilty and received a five-year suspended prison sentence on Friday. He will also remain on probation for three years, and spend a further 90 days in Lafourche Parish jail.
The probation sentence bars him from visiting bars, lounges, or taking excessive alcohol or drugs. His sentencing was a result of a plea deal that reduced the severity of his sentences. If he violates the terms of his probation, he will serve the whole five-year prison sentence in state prison.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
