Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency ahead of the pro-gun rally organized by the Virginia Citizens Defense League group.

The Democratic governor has also declared a total ban on all types of weapons including guns, bats, sticks, chains, and projectiles. The state Capitol grounds will close at five and the police are already erecting barricades. Only a single entrance will be open at the intersection of 9th and Grace Streets.

Thousands of protesters, pro-gun groups, and local and out of state militias had declared their interest of attending the rally. A few days before, a Democratic-dominated special rules committee had banned weapons in the Capitol and legislative buildings.

The temporary state of emergency and the total weapons ban is a result of what the governor called information of “credible threats” from out of state elements who will be attending the rally. Governor Northam said that there were plans of storming the Capitol building as well as the use of weaponized drones.

Northam’s proposed gun legislation has caused a backlash with the public who have been organizing rallies to drum opposition against the proposed legislation. Public meetings have been witnessing massive attendance by residents who wish to have the government consider their opinions. The proposed laws have stirred the wrath of residents who have vowed not to comply and promised to defend their rights and fight tyranny and the overreach from the state government.

There has been talking of civil war and most counties and cities have vowed not to enforce the laws, including Virginia Beach City, which inspired the new gun control legislation after a shooting that left 12 dead. Members of the Democratic Party have called for the deployment of the National Guard.

With the governors continued hammering of the gun control laws against the public opposition, Virginia risks being the flashpoint of violent clashes between the government and the residents over the infringement of the Second Amendment Rights.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
