Feds Bust Chicago’s Black Disciples Gun Trafficking Gang, “Murder” McMiller Arrested

While the involvement of the feds in Chicago faced opposition from Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the same agency she despises busted a major gun trafficking ring operating on the South Side.

Federal agents nabbed 23 suspects involved in gun trafficking business, drugs, and even bank fraud. The suspects arrested belonged to a criminal gang called Chicago Black Disciples. Among suspects in custody include high ranking individuals, including the criminal group’s leader, Darnell “Murder” McMiller. Other members belonged to a rival gang called the Gangster Disciples.

John Lausch, a federal prosecutor, said the operation took several years of investigations and over 50 transactions in which the criminals sold guns to undercover agents. The operation was concentrated in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago.

President Trump sent federal teams consisting of the ATF, FBI, and DEA, to combat crimes in Operation Legend. Although the seizures were not related to the operation, having more federal officers would help supplement the efforts of the Chicago Police, who are overstretched, overwhelmed, and have their hands tied by the mayor.

Lightfoot remains consistent in blaming other states for the illegal gun problem in her city, but her inaction and opposition to the federal involvement only makes it worse. Thankfully, federal agencies found a way to conduct their operations in Chicago with or without Lightfoot’s approval.

Evidently, Lightfoot’s excuse of blaming the neighboring states for the illegal gun problem in her city is far from convincing. We could, for example, ask why the states where the illegal guns originate from do not experience similar levels of gun violence as Chicago does.

The reason is that Chicago is a haven for criminals because of failing to enforce the laws aggressively. If the mayor allowed the CPD to do their job, many criminals would leave the streets.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
