Georgia Democratic Runoff Candidate Raphael Warnock Mocks Christians While Pushing For Gun Control
Georgia Democratic Senate runoff candidate Raphael Warnock says that allowing Americans to defend themselves in churches puts them at more risk. Warnock was recorded while speaking against the "Safe Carry Protection Act" that allows Georgians to carry guns in church.
With a huge smirk on his face, Warnock mocked Christians and ridiculed the legislators who passed the measure, adding that church meetings were the last places to allow firearms. "Somebody decided that they had a bright idea to pass a piece of legislation that will allow for guns and concealed weapons to be carried in churches," he said.
Warnock did not bother to research on how guns save thousands of Christians' lives, both as deterrence and during attacks.
Jackson Wilson stopped a mass shooter within seconds during the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, in Texas. Within those few seconds, the assailant managed to kill two people. Had an armed response taken longer to arrive, piles of bodies would have been collected from the church.
Stephen Willeford, stopped a church shooting in the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, using an "assault weapon."
However, the gun control policies that Warnock supports could have prevented Willeford from stopping the carnage. Texas did not have laws allowing firearms in church and Willeford shot the assailant from outside the church. He also used an AR-15 which allowed the bullet to penetrate the armor that the attacker was wearing.
Willeford says that "Instead of having 26 dead, he would've had hundreds more dead" in the church. However, Warnock openly supports the banning of guns in the churches, which would have guaranteed more dead bodies.
No evidence exists that banning firearms from churches makes the sacred places any safer. Contrarily, there's insurmountable evidence that arming congregants reduces the number of fatalities during an attack.
However, Democrat Warnock deliberately chooses to misinform the public about the role of legally-owned firearms in church for political purposes.
