Giffords Launches An Association for Anti-Gun Gun Owners

Gun control is ridiculous for the most part, but it still gets crazier. We've heard of the claims that Americans could still enjoy their Second Amendment rights, even when the same is restricted. It's therefore not surprising when an anti-gun activist creates a firearm owners association.

Former Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, the co-founder of the self-titled gun control group launched a firearm owners association called "Gun Owners for Safety." The group claims to offer an alternative national gun association.

In reality, the group intends to undermine other firearm groups and weaken their resolve in fighting for their gun rights. Giffords Executive Director, Peter Ambler, does not hide their true intentions.

“Put your foot in the shoes of an American gun owner, do you want to be part of the NRA, which is embroiled in legal and ethical controversy?” Ambler said. “The NRA wants you to believe that you can’t have your Second Amendment and pursue [gun control] laws.”

The group claims to have a membership of about 50,000 across the country. It also claims to hold centralist views on various political issues.

"If we’re going to have long-term durable change in this country, it can’t just be the activists on the left and the activists on the right. We really have to move the center,” Giffords Executive Director Peter Ambler said.

Ambler added that the members want to show that "the vast majority of gun owners support safer gun laws." Gun Owners for Safety also promises to focus on expanded background checks.

We support gun safety, but we oppose the ineffective restrictions and the violation of the Second Amendment rights disguised as gun safety laws. Ambler should distinguish between the two.

Giffords and her husband, Arizona State Senate candidate Mark Kelly, claim they are firearm owners. Kelly hopes to unseat the incumbent GOP Sen. Martha McSally, who he accuses of doing nothing to end gun violence. Various gun control groups including Everytown for Gun Safety support his candidacy.

The group will meet for a launch event on Friday attended by Rep Jason Crow (D- Colo), Giffords, Ambler, and member gun owners. The group will also send a campaign message to political candidates on gun control.

Gun Owners for Safety supports Joe Biden for president and Giffords' husband for the Arizona state Senate. The group is nothing more than a political vehicle to support anti-gun politicians.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
