Gunmaker Kimber To Relocate Headquarters From Anti-gun New York to Alabama
Kimber Manufacturing began transferring its headquarters from New York to Troy, Alabama, creating over 360 jobs. Sources said that the company would “aggressively hire” in all departments.
The company has already announced job openings in various areas such as design engineers, lean and CNC technicians, machinists, compliance analysts, quality control specialists, customer service representatives, maintenance technicians, materials planners, assembly technicians, and finishing operators.
The gunmaker planned the relocation in 2018 when it announced the construction of a $38 million manufacturing plant in the Yellowhammer State. The 225,000 square feet building rests on an 80-acres piece of land and will support the design, manufacturing, and management activities.
The new facility boasts of two indoor gun ranges, one outdoor range, a state-of-the-art design and prototype fabrication center, and a team of highly qualified professionals, according to Pedi Gega, Kimber’s assembly and product finishing director.
“Kimber is a great place to work, especially if you love firearms,” Gega said.
The company said the decision was because of Troy’s proximity to “top-tier engineering schools as well as gun- and business-friendly support from the city of Troy and the great state of Alabama.”
Definitely, New York’s anti-gun attitude influenced the decision to relocate. The company suffered heavily under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s decision to classify gun-related businesses as non-essential. This was despite the Department of Homeland Security giving a directive to keep firearm businesses open.
The decision to relocate was long overdue because anti-gunners should not benefit from businesses they wish to shut down. Additionally, doing business in a Liberal city is not a trivial undertaking given the bureaucracy and infinite government regulations.
