HR 125 Adds A 7-Day Waiting Period For Semiautos, Silencers, Armor Piercing Ammo, And LCMs Transfer

The U.S. House of Representatives gun control bill, H.R. 125, seeks to amend title 18 of the United States Code, and introduce “a 7-day waiting period before any semiautomatic firearm, a silencer, armor piercing ammunition, or a large capacity ammunition magazine may be transferred.”

The bill was introduced by a Texas Democrat, Sheila Jackson Lee (D –Houston), who once claimed that an AR-15 weighed as much as ten boxes. Lee was also awarded the “meanest Congress member among Democrats” title in a row. She was also sued for retaliating against a woman planning to take legal action after alleged rape by a former Congressional Black Caucus Foundation employee, Damien Jones, who went on to work for gun-grabber Beto O’Rourke.

“It shall be unlawful for a person who is not a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, to transfer to another person not so licensed a semiautomatic firearm, a silencer, armor piercing ammunition, or a large capacity ammunition magazine, unless at least 7 business days (meaning a day on which State offices are open) have elapsed since the transferee most recently offered or agreed to acquire the semiautomatic firearm, silencer, ammunition, or magazine, as the case may be, from the transferor.”

The bill does not hide the fact that it opposes firearm ownership by law-abiding citizens. HR 125 falsely claims that no armed, law-abiding citizen has ever stopped a mass shooting in the past three decades.

“Mass shootings stopped by armed civilians in the past 33 years: 0,” the bill states.

The bill also claims that increased legal firearm ownership leads to increased homicides, which is glaringly false given that gun-controlled cities, such as New York, are the most unsafe to live in. The New York Times predicted that gun controlled cities would be among 18 out of 20 most dangerous cities in 2020.

We also know that according to the 2019 FBI Uniform Crime Report, crime fell as justified homicides went up. This shows that if more Americans defended themselves using firearms, crime would eventually drop.

Lee also sponsored the gun registration and ammo ban bill H.R. 127.
