We covered how Hunter Biden's gun was tossed in a trash can by his brother's widow, who he was dating at the time. We asked why no charges were pressed for the negligent behavior that gave criminals the much-needed untraceable weapon for committing crimes. We reported Hunter Biden saying that he didn't call his politician dad to make any possible charges go away.
Questions now arise as to how Hunter could buy a firearm given his long history of drug abuse.
The ATF requires that applicants disclose their abuse history on ATF form 4473. Applicants are expected to respond with a "yes" or "no" to this question.
"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"
As you guessed, confirming a history of drug abuse leads to an automatic denial. But somehow, Hunter was able to pass this question despite his long history of drug abuse.
Hunter also signed the statement acknowledging that he knew lying on a federal or state form was a criminal offense.
"... I also understand that making any false oral or written statement, or exhibiting any false or misrepresented identification with respect to this transaction, is a crime punishable as a felony under Federal law and may also violate State and/or local law."
However, a quick look at Hunter's history shows that he was discharged from the military after testing positive for drug abuse, particularly cocaine. Evidence of drug abuse was found in a damaged rental car under Hunter's lease. Hunter's laptop's contents also indicate Joe's son engaging in explicit sexual acts with an unidentified woman while smoking crack.
Yes, law enforcement will say that there is no evidence indicating that Hunter was using drugs at the time of application. How about investigating him to determine if indeed he was addicted. It wouldn't take that long to connect the dots.
However, don't hold your breath because the investigation will never happen. Don't forget that Delaware State Police referred the "gun tossing" incident to the Delaware Department of Justice. However, not even an investigation was carried.
However, Biden claims to have kept over 3 million firearms out of dangerous hands through the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act that established the background checks system. Unfortunately, his son potentially lied to beat the same system.
Meanwhile, law-abiding gun owners will be denied the chance to own a firearm based on some flimsy reason which criminals can just lie through. Biden also thinks he is entitled to become the president for helping enact the same laws that his son could easily circumvent.
