Kamala Harris' "Common Sense" Gun Control Laws Means Confiscation
Kamala Harris had a more radical gun control strategy than Joe Biden during the Democratic primaries. It is unlikely that her hostility towards firearm ownership would reduce.
Harris said that Americans must “reject a false choice which suggests you're either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone's guns away." Despite claiming to be a gun owner, Harris’s Second Amendment record shows that she is against firearm ownership.
On Sandy Hook’s eighth anniversary, she called for “commonsense” gun control. However, throughout her presidential campaign, she supported a “mandatory buyback” program and an “assault weapons” ban without grandfathering the existing firearms.
Her gun control extremism could only be compared to that of Beto O’Rourke who admitted that he intended to confiscate firearms.
Unlike O’Rourke, Harris was subtle in calling for firearm confiscation. This allowed her anti-gun sentiments to go unnoticed by most people. However, she openly endorsed mandatory buyback during a rally organized by the anti-gun group March for Our Lives.
“We have to have a buyback program, and I support a mandatory gun buyback program,” Harris said in 2019.
She also promised to impose gun control through executive action within 100 days. Her remarks implied that she would take over the lawmaking process from Congress and unilaterally impose anti-gun laws.
"Upon being elected, I will give the United States Congress 100 days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws. And if they fail to do it, then I will take executive action," Harris told CNN.
Some of her proposals included the enactment of universal background checks and requiring background investigations for anyone selling more than five guns a year.
She also promised to cancel FFLs for sellers who violated gun retail laws – something that is already a crime.
However, Harris intended to introduce flimsy excuses to shut down sellers and reduce the number of licensed firearm sellers. This would prevent more Americans from accessing firearms.
