Lauren Boebert Vows To Confront The Democratic “Cancel Mob” On Legislators' Gun Rights

Congresswoman-elect Lauren Boebert lambasted Democrats for trying to block legislators from carrying firearms at the state capitol.

Her comments came after about two dozen House Democrats wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy demanding a change of firearm rules at the Capitol.

Led by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA 14th District), Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA 2nd district), and Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL 2nd District), the legislators wanted the proposal to be among the first issues voted on after the January 3 resumption.

The Democrats claimed that armed legislators were unknowingly putting themselves and others at risk by carrying firearms in the legislature. They also said that banning firearms would lead to uniformity because members of the public were prohibited from carrying guns while legislators were exempted.

"Ultimately, the current regulations create needless risk for Members of Congress, their staff, members of the Capitol Police, and visitors to the Capitol grounds," they argued.

The Colorado legislator said that Democrats were always seeking ways to strip our constitutional rights and were threatened by the Americans’ ability to exercise their constitutional rights.

She vowed to ensure that the Democrats’ attempts to stymie the legislators' self-defense rights were defeated. She swore that she would never “bow down to their cancel mob."

"I carry a firearm to protect myself and want to exercise my right to do so in one of the most dangerous cities in America,” Boebert said in an interview with Fox News “They want to take that right away from me. I look forward to helping make sure they can't."

Boebert noted that Washington D.C., like other liberal cities, has very high crime rates, mostly involving guns in gun-free zones. She added that she would be walking daily to work and that the Capitol police would not escort her everywhere, thus the need for self-defense means.

Perhaps the best way to bring equality is by allowing members of the public to carry firearms similar to the lawmakers to ensure that everybody was safe and could exercise their constitutional rights.
