LIBERTY UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT THREATENS TO CALL FOR CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE IF DEMS PASS GUN CONTROL

Lynchburg, Virginia - Liberty University President, Jerry Falwell Jr., has threatened to call for civil disobedience if the Democrats pass gun control laws in the state. “I’m pretty sure I’m going to call for civil disobedience if the Democrats go through with this,” Falwell said in an interview with Todd Starnes. The Liberty University President noted that he never witnessed public unity as that in opposition to Ralph Northam’s gun control legislation in Virginia. “You don’t mess with people’s guns in this part of the state,” the Liberty president said.

Falwell said that law enforcement officers and civilians would not be opposed to civil disobedience. Ninety-one out of 95 counties have declared themselves as second amendment sanctuaries while 16 out of 38 independent cities and towns have done the same. “The hundred municipalities and jurisdictions who have passed resolutions to protect the Second Amendment, I think the police officers and the populace would not be opposed to just disobeying," Falwell noted.

His calls for civil disobedience would involve law enforcement officers not enforcing the laws and the citizens disobeying the gun control laws. He also counts on the support of his students. Some students have already pledged to support him. Liberty University allows students with concealed carry permits to carry concealed weapons in their residence halls under approval from Liberty University Police Department. Such students also have permission to carry in classroom buildings, athletic venues, and campus dining halls.

The policy to allow students to carry within the residential halls came after students indicated their discontentment of living in gun-free zones which were a sign of vulnerability. School shootings mostly take place in gun-free zones where the attackers are guaranteed that nobody would fire back at them. By opposing gun control, the President is also protecting the rights of his students to self-defense.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
