Pregnant Couple Charged for Defending Themselves Against Attackers Accusing Them of Racism

A husband and his pregnant wife were charged with felony assault after defending themselves from a potential attacker in Oakland County, Michigan. Jillian Wuestenberg, 32, and Eric Wuestenberg, 42, pulled their firearm after a black woman attacked the pregnant woman and threatened the husband couple with bodily harm while accusing them of racism.

The couple was arraigned in 53-2 District Courtroom in Rochester before being released on a $50,000 personal bond. They were ordered to surrender in their firearms and remain within the state. A day later, the husband was fired from his job at Oakland University.

The incident began after the couple was leaving the parking lot and were falsely accused of racism by the black woman accompanied by her teenage daughter. The African American woman accused Wuestenberg of earlier bumping into her teenage daughter and demanded an apology while calling her a racist. A video recording shows the couple did not escalate the situation.

The couple respectfully denied that the incident had taken place and said they were not racists. The mother and daughter tried to block the pregnant woman as she was getting into the front seat, and the husband had to get out of the car to usher her in.

“Yeah, I said, and if you say something. I’ll beat your white ass too,” the black woman said, threatening Mr. Wuestenberg.

The couple got into the car and started backing up while the duo was hollering and calling them names.

“I care about you. I care about you, and I’m sorry if you had an incident that has made someone make you feel like that…,” Mrs. Wuestenberg said to them. “You cannot just walk around calling white people racist. This is not that type of world.”

The angry woman stood behind the car as the couple tried to leave, punching it and accusing the couple of trying to run over her.

Mrs. Wuestenberg got out of the car to assess the situation, and they started grabbing at her. She could be heard telling them to let go of her. When they released her, the pregnant mother pulled her pistol, allowing her to get back into the car. The daughter could be heard telling the mother to stop walking toward Mrs. Wuestenberg.

“These white people, they’re so racist. They pulled a gun on my momma. Both of them.”

The couple did nothing to warrant the treatment they received. They tried to remain calm and respectful as the mother and daughter howled all kinds of racist remarks and put their hands on the pregnant woman.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
