Seattle ‘Gun Free Zone” Coffee Shop Bans Police From Carrying Firearms
A coffee shop in Seattle put up a sign prohibiting police officers from carrying firearms within the building. Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream on Capitol Hill put up a warning immediately after law enforcement officers dismantled the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) zone in Seattle.
The warning singles out the police and says, “Molly Moon’s is a gun-free zone. Please do not come inside if you’re wearing a firearm.”
The coffee shop owner, Molly Moon Neitzel, says that the Capitol Hill zone has witnessed difficult times recently, thus informing the decision to put the warning. She said that the influx of police officers during the dismantling of the CHOP Protest zone was intimidating to the people of color and made them feel unsafe.
Neitzel denied that she was anti-police but said that she was just against the police system.
The coffee shop implemented the gun-free policy in 2013 when Washington CeaseFire anti-gun group started its operations in Seattle. However, the new policy targeting police officers could only have been inspired by the hatred of the law enforcement officers perpetuated by the leftists.
Neitzel has similar gun-free zone stickers in all other seven locations, but the once closest to the previously BLM occupied zone is the only one targeting the police. Although some businesses have anti-firearm policies, they always allow law enforcement agents to bring their firearms when enjoying a snack.
Neitzel said on an Instagram post that her business supports the Black Lives Matter movement as well as the Defunding the Police Movement.
She added that enforcing the ban on firearms was at the discretion of individual employees. She, however, said she does not hope that her employees, especially those of color, would get into a confrontation with the police over the policy.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
