“They’re Going to Have to Drag Me Out of Here or Kill Me,” Gun Shop Defies Orders to Close

Massachusetts gun store owner has defied state authorities’ orders to close shop even after receiving cease and desist letters. John Costa, the owner Middleborough Gunrunner, told MassLive he won’t comply.

“That guy is an idiot. He’s a liar. He’s a RINO,” Costa described Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker. “I will not comply to this insane socialist governor. And that’s why I won’t close.”

He said the Constitution gives him every right to stay open and that he only recognizes God and Trump.

“I will stick to my guns. I will stick to the Constitution which gives me every damn right to stay open,” Costa said. “My boss, I have two leaders, God and Trump. No one else.”

Gunrunner store owner said the authorities would have to drag him from the shop or kill him for his store to close during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They’re going to have to drag me out of here or kill me, one or the other.”

Costa said that other gun shops across the country had remained open during the pandemic. He said that the authorities were using the pandemic to push the Second Amendment people out of business.

“They’re not worried about the coronavirus,” He said. “They’re using that as a backdrop to put us Second Amendment people totally gone, out of business, and that’s the way it is.”

Costa was carrying out curbside sales where the transactions took place in the vehicle. It is still not clear whether such deals were covered by the stay at home orders. He added that the state was discriminating on firearm sellers by forcing them to stop curbside sales while allowing other businesses to operate.

“This is really funny, all the restaurants are doing curbside service yet nobody is telling them they can’t do that,” Costa said. “How the hell do you know if any of them people in that restaurant is not infected with the virus, meanwhile handling the food and giving it to us to take home.”

Several gun rights groups have already filed a lawsuit seeking the intervention of the court to overturn the closure orders

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
