Trump’s Amy Coney Barrett Pick for Ruth Ginsburg’s Replacement Injects Fresh Hopes For Gun Rights

President Trump promised that he would nominate a woman to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This time, Trump appears to have his eyes on possibly the best candidate.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett is among the leading candidates for the post. She currently serves as the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals judge.

Judge Barrett is a strong supporter of constitutional originalism. This practice involves the interpretation of the original texts to decide if an individual's rights have been violated. The practice is very unpopular with liberals especially when applied to matters relating to the Second Amendment rights. The practice prevents the Left from twisting the constitution to achieve their ungodly objectives.

We are Texalorians... Weapons are our religion.... This is the way, y'all... Show your Texalorian Pride with this kick ass shirt!

In 2019, Judge Barrett registered a dissent in the Kanter v. Barr Second Amendment case, arguing that nonviolent offenders should not automatically lose their Second Amendment rights from a mere conviction.

Her argument was based on the history of gun rules during the 18th and 19th centuries. The judge said that, historically, the rules were supposed to prevent violent criminals from owning firearms. This restriction hardly applies to non-violent offenders convicted of crimes such as medical fraud.

She reiterated that the Second Amendment founders did not strip individuals of their rights to own firearms based on their status as felons. Barrett said that people were only prevented from owning firearms for public safety.

If confirmed, Barrett, 48, would be a huge asset to the gun rights for the next 30 years. The current judiciary composition is evidently lacking in judges willing to roll the dice when it comes to the Second Amendment rights. Consequently, having Judge Barrett appointed and confirmed would be the breath of fresh air that the American gun owners have been yearning for.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
