Tyrant’s Concession: Gov. Ralph Northam Forced to Reopen Shooting Ranges After VCDL Victory

Gov. Ralph Northan was forced to reopen shooting ranges after Virginia Citizens Defense League won a court battle to reopen shooting ranges. The Virginian Tyrant issued a new executive order number 61, allowing the shooting ranges to reopen.

“Effective 12:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2020, indoor shooting ranges may reopen, provided

they comply with the following requirements,” the statement read.

However, there is nothing new regarding the requirements for reopening the shooting ranges, as they were already observing the various requirements stipulated in the public safety guidelines. It is just a subtle way of the tyrant to save face by accepting the defeat of the reopening of the shooting ranges by giving the obvious preconditions.

Judge Frank Patrick Yeatts ruled that indoor shooting ranges can reopen because the order to close them by Gov. Northan violates the state’s law. The preconditions, such as limited occupants, social distancing, face coverings, and disinfestations, imposed by Gov. Northam, had already been in place before the shutdown of the ranges.

“We’re not seeking to permit indoor ranges to engage in business in a matter that creates any more risk of transmission than operating an electronic store or a liquor store or a Walmart,” said Browne, a lawyer representing VCDL during the case. “The ranges … would still adhere to social distancing guidelines.”

All the requirements stipulated by the reopening orders fell below the threshold observed by the shooting ranges.

“Occupancy must be limited to 50% of the lowest occupancy load on the certificate

of occupancy with at least six feet of physical distancing between individuals at all

times,” Gov. Northam’s statement read. “Use every other lane to achieve six feet of physical distancing.”

The shooting ranges already observed patronage of less than 50%. Still, the constitution bashing Democrats in Virginia needed a court order to force them to respect the rule of law and issue yet another executive order. Unfortunately, they had no option except to accept the verdict and pretend to issue preconditions to save face after the humiliating defeat.

Gov. Northam had to find a way to comply with the court order while still maintaining the showmanship that has been characteristic of his rule in Virginia despite facing a massive public backlash.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
