Police in Nashville, Tennessee, arrested two teens who had collected a large stash of firearms despite the state’s gun laws prohibiting people under 21 years from owning firearms. The police pounced on the two criminals inside a home on Enchanted Circle. According to police reports, the two teens were involved in various crimes, and some of the guns were reported stolen.
One of the teens, Anthony Thomas, 18, is facing felony aggravated assault charges after firing 12 shots from the sunroof of his BMW while driving on Elizabeth Road on March 26. The indiscriminate shots terrified people compelling them to scamper for safety.
His accomplice was an unidentified 17-year old, who is facing attempted murder after shooting a woman on Eastboro Drive. The woman sprang on him, stealing wheels from her son’s car. Fingerprint matching helped link him to previous crimes he had committed. The two teens are under investigation for possibly being involved in other violent crimes in the state.
While the gun control activists would try to convince you that restricting individuals from owning firearms will make communities safer, incidents like these convince us otherwise. There is no rule in the gun control’s handbook that would have prevented the hardcore criminals from accessing the firearms.
Criminals, regardless of their age, do not respect the laws that deny them access to firearms. They, therefore, resort to committing more crimes to acquire the much-needed guns. In the case of these two wayward teens, the only way they could obtain the firearms is by stealing them or buying them from the black market. Already, two of the pistols have been discovered to have been stolen.
The only victims of illogical gun control laws are the law-abiding citizen who cannot obtain a firearm to defend against these dangerous criminals.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
