“You Loot, We Shoot,” Oregon Homeowners Warn Criminal As Wildfires Spread
Criminals planning to exploit the current wildfires raging in Oregon received a stern warning from armed homeowners. The residents erected signs to remind criminals that they will not hesitate to use their firearms in defending their property. Other residents have erected barricades and started demanding identification documents from people entering their neighborhoods.
“We won’t call your family. Your body will never be found!! Bang Bang!!” One sign reads.
“Looters will be shot,” reads a sign erected alongside the American flag.
“You loot, we shoot,” another sign reads.
Others carry equally threatening messages to criminals planning on exploiting the wildfires and the evacuations to ransack abandoned homes.
“Home and Armed. U loot we shoot,” reads a sign.
“Looters + Arsonists will be SHOT,” another one reads.
However, Clackamas County Sheriff, Craig Roberts, warned firearm owners against using unnecessary force.
“The last thing I want to see is anything tragically happen because somebody’s overreacting to something they think is criminal, and it is not,” Sheriff Roberts said.
The wildfires have displaced about ten percent of the population in Oregon. The raging blaze has also decimated over 900,000 acres in Oregon. The cities of Talent and Phoenix are some of the most affected areas.
Although Some residents were not in immediate danger, they left their homes as a matter of precaution. Others lost all their belongings in the blaze and are relying on donations to survive.
Other parts of the United States, such as California, are also battling the blaze. However, strong and shifting winds are fanning the flames and rekindling fresh fires in areas already extinguished.
For most of the areas affected, police response is slow, forcing the residents to rely on their firearms for safety. Additionally, the vacuum left by the fleeing residents may encourage criminals to exploit the opportunity, thus forcing them to take the necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing universal background checks in our state, and if left unchecked, it will not be long until we see bills like this getting traction in Austin. Texas is embarrassingly ranked 29th for gun rights, and with the help of the political elites in Austin, we will surely rank among New York, California, and Illinois if left to their own devices. Please join our fight today, and help us restore Texas' place as the standard for the U.S.
